It is also the <strong>largest consumer and exporter of spices.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Cardamom<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cardamom is derived from the seeds of the <strong>Elettaria cardamomum plant<\/strong> (also known as green or true cardamom) and belongs to the ginger family.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It has a distinctive strong, warm flavor that is both spicy and sweet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is categorized into two main types: <strong>Small Cardamom and Large Cardamom<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Small Cardamom:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Origin: <\/strong>Native to the evergreen forests of the Western Ghats in South India.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Major Producers: <\/strong>Kerala, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Favorable Growing Conditions: <\/strong>Loamy Soil, requires thick shade for optimal growth, temperature range of 10\u00b0C to 35\u00b0C and requires 1500 to 4000 mm of annual rainfall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Large Cardamom:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Distribution: <\/strong>Grown primarily in the Sub-Himalayan regions of North Eastern India, Nepal, and Bhutan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Major Producers: <\/strong>Mainly cultivated in the states of Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Darjeeling district of West Bengal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Favorable Growing Conditions: <\/strong>Requires an average rainfall of 3000-3500 mm, 6\u00b0C to 30\u00b0C temperature, high altitudes ranging from 600 to 2000 meters and Prefers well-drained, loamy soils with rich organic matter.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#fff2cc\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>About Spices Board of India<\/strong><br>&#8211; It is an apex body established by the Government of India in 1987 under the <strong>Ministry of Commerce and Industry<\/strong>.
