{"id":29151,"date":"2024-09-07T19:43:25","date_gmt":"2024-09-07T14:13:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=29151"},"modified":"2024-09-07T19:43:26","modified_gmt":"2024-09-07T14:13:26","slug":"technical-textiles-will-cross-10-billion-by-2030","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/07-09-2024\/technical-textiles-will-cross-10-billion-by-2030","title":{"rendered":"Technical Textiles Will Cross $10 Billion by 2030"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS3\/Economy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As per the Union Minister for Textiles, Annual export of technical textiles will <strong>cross $10 billion by 2030.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What are Technical Textiles?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Technical textiles are defined as textile materials and products used primarily for their <strong>technical performance and functional properties<\/strong> rather than their aesthetic or decorative characteristics.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are manufactured using <strong>natural as well as man-made fibres<\/strong> such as that exhibit<strong> enhanced functional properties <\/strong>such as higher tenacity, excellent insulation, improved thermal resistance etc.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Application:<\/strong> These products find end-use application across multiple non-conventional textile industries such as<strong> healthcare, construction, automobile, aerospace, sports, defence, agriculture.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They are used individually to satisfy specific functions such as fire retardant fabric for uniforms of firemen and coated fabric to be used as awnings.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As a component or part of another product, they are used to enhance the strength, performance or other functional properties of that product.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Significance:<\/strong> Technical textiles have cost effectiveness; durability; high strength; light weight; versatility; customization; user friendliness; eco friendliness; logistical convenience etc.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Technical Textile Sector of India<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Technical textile accounts for approximately<strong> 13% of India\u2019s total textile.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Global trade in technical textiles is around<strong> $300 billion,<\/strong> while India\u2019s domestic market size is<strong> $25 billion<\/strong> and annual exports are worth $2.6 billion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Availability of raw materials <\/strong>such as cotton, wood, jute and silk along with a <strong>strong value chain, low cost labour, power and changing consumer trends <\/strong>are some of the contributing factors to India\u2019s growth in this sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img data-dominant-color=\"dce6d8\" data-has-transparency=\"false\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"773\" height=\"509\" src=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2024\/09\/Technical-Textile-Sector-of-India-jpg.webp\" alt=\"Technical Textile Sector of India\" class=\"not-transparent wp-image-29152\" style=\"--dominant-color: #dce6d8;
