{"id":28148,"date":"2024-08-23T18:53:59","date_gmt":"2024-08-23T13:23:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/?p=28148"},"modified":"2024-08-30T15:01:36","modified_gmt":"2024-08-30T09:31:36","slug":"guidelines-for-seaplane-operations-in-india","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/23-08-2024\/guidelines-for-seaplane-operations-in-india","title":{"rendered":"Guidelines for Seaplane Operations in India"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS3\/Infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Context<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Union Minister for Civil Aviation, has launched the <strong>Guidelines for Seaplane Operations in India under RCS-UDAN.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>About Seaplane Operations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Seaplanes can land and take off from the sea.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Waterdromes are for landing and taking off seaplanes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>India had seaplane operations in Andaman &amp; Nicobar as well as in Gujarat but they couldn&#8217;t sustain for long.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The government plans to set up water aerodromes at 18 places spread across Andaman &amp; Nicobar, Lakshadweep, Goa, Assam, Andhra Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Guidelines for Seaplane Operations<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The relaxed norms are aimed at<strong> encouraging seaplane operations under the regional air connectivity scheme <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/18-04-2022\/udan-scheme\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/18-04-2022\/udan-scheme\"><strong>UDAN (Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik)<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The guidelines prioritise the safety and security of seaplane operations and clearly outline the responsibilities of each stakeholder, from the operators to the regulatory bodies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There will be<strong> no need for a waterdrome license<\/strong> and compliance requirements have also been reduced.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fresh Commercial Pilot License (CPL) holders<\/strong> can now directly obtain seaplane ratings that will allow them to fly seaplanes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The revised regulations incorporated<strong> easier training requirements and simplified approval processes<\/strong> for seaplane operations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The new guidelines<strong> allow non-scheduled entities<\/strong> to operate such services and put in place a<strong> simplified certificate process.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Other Initiatives<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The minister also launched the<strong> 5.4 version of the UDAN. <\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Under UDAN 5.4, fresh bids would be invited for the routes which were cancelled for some reason or the other, to provide connectivity on unserved routes.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After the success of RCS-UDAN, the government is considering to propose <strong>RCS-UDAN 2.0 for the next 10 years.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-background has-fixed-layout\" style=\"background-color:#fff2cc\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>UDAN<\/strong> <br>&#8211; The Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) &#8211; UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) is an initiative <strong>to improve infrastructure and connectivity in India<\/strong>, especially in remote and underserved regions.&nbsp;<br>&#8211; It is a vital component of India&#8217;s <strong>National Civil Aviation Policy (NCAP) 2016, <\/strong>launched by the <strong>Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) in 2016,<\/strong> with a 10-year vision.<br>&#8211;
