The Research helps scientists understand the dynamics of ice melting, sea level rise, and the impact of climate change on the polar regions and beyond.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ozone Layer Depletion: <\/strong>&nbsp;Research in Antarctica monitors the recovery of the ozone layer and helps assess the effectiveness of international agreements, such as the Montreal Protocol, in addressing ozone-depleting substances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Space Analog:<\/strong> Antarctica&#8217;s extreme conditions, including low temperatures and isolation, make it an ideal analog for studying the challenges humans might face in future space exploration, such as missions to Mars.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Scientific Discovery: <\/strong>Antarctica provides opportunities for the discovery of the remains of ancient organisms, meteorites, and insights into Earth&#8217;s geological history.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-ec8378d94db3da73cb190d723e02e7aa\" style=\"color:#ff6a00\"><strong>India and Antarctica<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Antarctic Treaty<\/strong>: The Treaty covers the area south of<strong> 60\u00b0S latitude<\/strong>. It was signed at <strong>Washington D.C. in 1959 <\/strong>with the objective of the Demilitarisation of Antarctica.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The signatories are supposed to bring laws so that no activity in contravention of the treaty takes place. <strong>India signed<\/strong> the treaty<strong> <\/strong>in<strong> 1983.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Convention on the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources (CCAMLR): CCAMLR <\/strong>was signed in Canberra i<strong>n 1980 <\/strong>to protect and preserve the Antarctic environment and, particularly, for the preservation and conservation of marine living resources in Antarctica.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>India ratified<\/strong> the CCAMLR in <strong>1985.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Madrid Protocol: <\/strong>The Protocol on the Environmental Protection to the Antarctic Treaty (Madrid Protocol) was signed in <strong>Madrid in 1991<\/strong>. It aims to strengthen the Antarctic Treaty system and develop a comprehensive regime for the protection of the Antarctic environment and dependent and associated ecosystems.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>India ratified<\/strong> the <strong>Madrid Protocol<\/strong> in <strong>1998.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Council of Managers of the National Antarctic Programme (COMNAP)<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India is also a member of the COMNAP<strong> <\/strong>and the Scientific Committee of Antarctica Research (SCAR), which shows the significant position that India holds among the nations involved in Antarctic research.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table class=\"has-background\" style=\"background-color:#ebecf0\"><tbody><tr><td><strong>About Antarctica<\/strong><br><br>&#8211; <strong>Antarctica<\/strong> is the world\u2019s <strong>southernmost and fifth largest<\/strong> continent. It is the <strong>second planet from the sun.<\/strong><br>&#8211; <strong>Thick &amp; Toxic Atmosphere:<\/strong> Venus has an atmosphere 50 times denser than Earth.<br>a. It is wrapped in a thick, toxic atmosphere <strong>filled with carbon dioxide<\/strong> that traps in heat.<br>&#8211; <strong>Inhabitable:<\/strong>&nbsp; Venus is the <strong>hottest planet<\/strong> in the solar system. The <strong>temperature <\/strong>of Venus is too high (about 471\u00b0C), and its <strong>atmosphere is highly acidic<\/strong>.<br>&#8211; <strong>Other Features:<\/strong> It has <strong>no moons and no rings<\/strong>.<br>a. iteration of a managed care organisation (MCO).&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is timely to reflect on <strong>whether MCOs hold promise for the bigger Indian health-care landscape<\/strong>, particularly when it comes to extending universal health care.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-4a2406062232435be9b75a36ae0cf651\" style=\"color:#ff6a00\"><strong>Health Security in India<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On the health security front, for the unorganised sector, there is the <strong>Ayushman Bharat Scheme of the central government<\/strong> with over 490 million beneficiaries.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the organized sector, the Central government runs the<strong> Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) and Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS)<\/strong> catering to 130 million and four million beneficiaries, respectively.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Health insurance schemes run by various State governments cover about 200 million people.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Despite these large-scale provisions, about <strong>400 million Indians are not covered under any kind of health insurance.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In India, ever since the first public commercial health insurance was promulgated in the 1980s, the focus has been on <strong>indemnity insurance and covering hospitalisation costs, <\/strong>despite a near $26 billion market for outpatient consultations in the country.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color health plan or health care company that <strong>utilizes managed care as its model to keep the quality of care high while limiting costs.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The term \u201c<strong>managed care<\/strong>\u201d is used to describe <strong>a type of health care focused on helping to reduce costs, <\/strong>while keeping quality of care high.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The strongest impetus for mainstreaming MCOs in U.S. health care came in the 1970s, when cost containment concerns in health care loomed large.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-5752fc59b39e4ae99905043545ce38b5\" style=\"color:#ff6a00\"><strong>Significance of
