It offers a<strong> diverse portfolio of nich<\/strong>e tourism products &#8211; cruises, adventure, medical, wellness, sports, MICE, eco-tourism, film, rural and religious tourism.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Indian coastline<\/strong> is one of the longest in the world, adding up to 7,516 km including the mainland, the<strong> islands of Andaman and Nicobar, <\/strong>and <strong>Lakshadweep<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This vast coastline is dotted with<strong> beach destinations<\/strong> both popular and unknown.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Popular destinations are <strong>Goa, Kerala, and the Andaman and Nicobar <\/strong>Islands&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>India has been recognized as a<strong> destination for spiritual tourism <\/strong>for domestic and international tourists.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>As the birthplace to four major world religions, i.e., Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Jainism, India can truly claim to be the world\u2019s spiritual beacon.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Challenges\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The major issues faced by the tourism industry relate to\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>entry formality (visa),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>safety and security of tourists,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>lack of tourism infrastructure,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>lack of cleanliness and hygiene in tourist spots,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;lack of connectivity,&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>high and&nbsp; multiple taxation, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Initiatives of India\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the <strong>Union Budget 2023-24,<\/strong> US$ 290.4 million has been allocated to the Ministry of Tourism.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;Under the <strong>Union Budget 2023-24, <\/strong>an outlay of US$ 170.85 million has been allocated for the S<strong>wadesh Darshan Scheme<\/strong> to develop a complete package of 50 tourist destinations for providing a wholesome tourism experience by facilitating physical, digital and virtual connectivity, availability of tourist guides and tourist security.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Under Budget 2023-24, the Government has allocated US$ 30.25 million for the development of tourist circuits under <strong>PRASHAD<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Ministry of Tourism has partnered with the Quality Council of India (QCI), to assist the <strong>Hospitality Industry <\/strong>in their preparedness to continue operations safely and mitigate risks arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic through an initiative called<strong> SAATHI (<\/strong>System for Assessment, Awareness and Training for Hospitality Industry).&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Ministry of Tourism has also designated the<strong> Year 2023 <\/strong>as the<strong> &#8216;Visit India&#8217; year<\/strong>, an invitation to the world to witness the splendor and magnificence that our nation has to offer.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>India welcomes 100% <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/blog\/foreign-direct-investment-fdi\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/blog\/foreign-direct-investment-fdi\/\">Foreign Direct Investment (FDI)<\/a> <\/strong>in the tourism industry under the automatic route.\u00a0\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-buttons is-content-justification-center is-layout-flex wp-container-core-buttons-is-layout-16018d1d wp-block-buttons-is-layout-flex\">\n<div class=\"wp-block-button has-custom-width wp-block-button__width-75\"><a class=\"wp-block-button__link wp-element-button\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/union-budget\"><strong>Check Union Budget Summary PDFs<\/strong><\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Conclusion and Way Forward\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Concept of<strong> \u2018Atithi Devo Bhava<\/strong>\u2019 and multitude of tourism and religious destinations-\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In India, we believe in the concept of \u2018Atithi Devo Bhava\u2019\u2014a guest is treated as God.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The rich cultural heritage, cuisine, the friendly and welcoming attitude of most Indians towards foreigners help in attracting more visitors to India.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tourism is an important source of foreign exchange in India similar to many other countries.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There is a need to do a lot towards ease of visas, direct flights, and more connectivity to lower the cost of travel.
