It is a<\/span><\/span><\/span> Constitutional body under Article 279A<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, introduced by the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Constitution (One Hundred and First Amendment) Act, 2016.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
It is empowered to modify, reconcile or to procure any law or regulation based on the context of GST in India.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
It is also <\/span><\/span><\/span>considered as a federal body<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> where both the centre and the states get due representation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

Vote of the Central Government shall have a<\/span><\/span><\/span> weightage of one third of the total votes cast.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

Goods and Services Tax is an <\/span><\/span><\/span>indirect tax<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> used in India on the<\/span><\/span><\/span> supply of goods and services<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
It is a <\/span><\/span><\/span>value-added tax <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>levied on most goods and services sold for domestic consumption.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
It was<\/span><\/span><\/span> launched in India in 2017<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> as a comprehensive indirect tax for the entire country.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

SGST<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> to be levied by the States and\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

E-invoice & More Revenue:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

The E-invoicing system helped reduce fake invoicing. Use of technology with online bill generation has resulted in smoother consignment movement and much fewer disputes with officials. After the introduction of E-invoice, GST collections have risen steadily since November 2020, surpassing the Rs. 1 lakh crore mark on several occasions.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
Logistical efficiency, production cost cut:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

After the introduction of GST, there has been a significant reduction in transaction costs. Cooperative Federalism:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

About the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI)<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

It has been jointly published by the Human Development Report Office (HDRO) of the <\/span><\/span><\/span>United Nations Development Programme<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and the O<\/span><\/span><\/span>xford Poverty and Human Development Initiative (OPHI) <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>at the University of Oxford <\/span><\/span><\/span>since 2010.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
It tells about <\/span><\/span><\/span>how prevalent poverty<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> is in the world and provides insights into the lives of poor people, their deprivations and how intense their poverty is\u2014to inform and accelerate efforts to end poverty in all its forms.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
It compiles data from <\/span><\/span><\/span>110 developing countries covering 6.1 billion people<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, accounting for <\/span><\/span><\/span>92 percent of the population <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>in developing countries. It offers a key perspective on SDG 1 i.e. <\/span><\/span><\/span>to overcome the greatest global challenge: ending poverty in all its forms.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Poverty-stricken people and families might go without proper housing, clean water, healthy food, and medical attention.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

How do monetary and multidimensional poverty compare?<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In 42 of 61 countries more people live in multidimensional poverty, based on the global MPI, than in extreme monetary poverty, based on the World Bank’s <\/span><\/span><\/span>$2.15 a day measure.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
How has poverty changed?<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

72 of 81 countries,<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> covering well over 5 billion people, <\/span><\/span><\/span>experienced a significant absolute reduction in MPI <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>value during at least one period. But nearly all data are from before the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
25<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> countries <\/span><\/span><\/span>halved their global MPI <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>value well within 15 years, showing that progress at scale is attainable.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

Depriviation of <\/span><\/span><\/span>cooking fuel<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> fell from <\/span><\/span><\/span>52.9% to 13.9%<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and those deprived of <\/span><\/span><\/span>sanitation<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> fell from <\/span><\/span><\/span>50.4% in 2005-2006 to 11.3% in 2019-2021<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
In the <\/span><\/span><\/span>drinking water indicator,<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> the percentage of people who are multidimensionally poor and deprived fell from <\/span><\/span><\/span>16.4 to 2.7<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> during the period,<\/span><\/span><\/span> electricity from 29 to 2.1 and housing from 44.9 to 13.6.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n

The Directorate of Enforcement or the ED is a multi-disciplinary organization mandated with investigation of economic crimes and violations of foreign exchange laws.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
The origin of this Directorate goes back to 1st May, 1956, when an \u2018Enforcement Unit\u2019 was formed in the Department of Economic Affairs. There were 02 branches \u2013 at Bombay and Calcutta.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

The Delhi Special Police Establishment (Amendment) Bill, 2021\u00a0 and The Central Vigilance Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2021<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> amended the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946 and the Central Vigilance Commission Act, 2003, respectively.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

The 1946 Act provides for the constitution of the Delhi Special Police Establishment for investigation of certain offences, as notified\u00a0 and the 2003 Act provides for the constitution of a Central Vigilance Commission to conduct inquiries into offences alleged to have been committed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
Extension of the Director\u2019s term:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> Both CBI and ED chiefs have fixed tenures of two years. However, 2021 amendments allow them a maximum of three annual extensions. The amendments adds that the tenure of the Director may be extended by up to one year at a time, till the completion of five years from the initial appointment. Such extensions may be granted in public interest, on the recommendation of the Committee.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

The act was deemed violative of Article 14 (right to equality) and Article 21 (right to protection of life and personal liberty) and termed it \u201cunconstitutional\u201d and an intrusion into the <\/span><\/span><\/span>private sphere of transgender people, \u201cas well as an assault on their dignity\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
The court also found that the said Act is similar to Part II of the Criminal Tribes Act, 1871, which criminalised certain tribal groups.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

It defined \u201ceunuchs\u201d as \u201call persons of the male sex who admit to be impotent or who clearly appear to be impotent on medical inspection\u201d.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
As per the Act, all eunuchs were mandated to register with the authorities. This included information such as their places of residence, for they were \u201creasonably suspected of kidnapping or emasculating boys, or of committing unnatural offences or abetting\u2026 said offences.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Identity crisis: <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>They are often forced to identify with a gender with which they are not associated at the workplace.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

What are Electoral bonds?<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

An electoral bond is like a <\/span><\/span><\/span>promissory note<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> that can be bought by <\/span><\/span><\/span>any Indian citizen or company<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> incorporated in India from select branches of <\/span><\/span><\/span>State Bank of India.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
The citizen or corporate can then donate the same to <\/span><\/span><\/span>any eligible political party of his\/her choice.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
The bonds are similar to <\/span><\/span><\/span>bank notes<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> that are payable to the bearer on demand and are free of interest. Second<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, the craft had to make very fast turns. When it started to turn very fast, its ability to turn was limited by the software due to some error.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
