ADR has asked the EC to take strict action against parties that are violating the orders, including de-registering them. ADR has also asked the ECI to publish a list of defaulting parties and impose fines on them.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

It is the participation of criminals in politics. This means that persons with criminal backgrounds contest in the election and get selected as a member of parliament or state legislature.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Hearing a petition filed by <\/span><\/span><\/span>Public Interest Foundation<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span><\/span>the Supreme Court <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>in 2018, made it <\/span><\/span><\/span>mandatory for political parties to publish the details of criminal cases<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> pending against their candidates, including on their websites, in a format prescribed by the Election Commission of India.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

It also added that they would have to include the<\/span><\/span><\/span> reasons for selecting such a candidate.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
It said the information would have to be published in<\/span><\/span><\/span> one local vernacular newspaper, one national newspaper<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and on the official<\/span><\/span><\/span> social media platforms <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>of the political party <\/span><\/span><\/span>within 48 hours<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> of the selection or not less than two weeks before the first date of nominations, whichever is earlier.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

In a constitutional democracy, criminalisation of politics is an extremely disastrous and lamentable situation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

What is a locally acquired malaria case?<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Locally acquired malaria denotes cases where the disease presents in patients with <\/span><\/span><\/span>no travel history, <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>indicating that it has been acquired within their geographical area.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
A locally acquired case would mean that the mosquito transmitting the disease first bit a person carrying the malaria-causing parasite and then another person, thus transmitting the disease locally.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

Who was Alluri Sitarama Raju?<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

He was born on <\/span><\/span><\/span>04 July 1897<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, in a village called Mogallu near Bhimavaram in Andhra Pradesh, Alluri Sitarama Raju was a sanyasi and a strong believer in justice who raised his voice against unlawful British policies.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
He had led the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Rampa rebellion<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, which was launched in <\/span><\/span><\/span>1922.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

The Rampa administrative area was home to about 28,000 tribes. These tribes followed the <\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2018Podu\u2019 system of cultivation,<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> whereby every year some amounts of forest tracts were cleared for cultivation, as it was their only source for food.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
For the tribes, the forests were essential for their survival, the Britishers wanted to evict them so that they could plunder these areas for wood, which would eventually help in building their <\/span><\/span><\/span>railways and ships.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
To get the forests cleared, <\/span><\/span><\/span>\u2018The Madras Forest Act, 1882\u2019 <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>was passed, thereby <\/span><\/span><\/span>restricting the free movement<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> of the tribal communities and <\/span><\/span><\/span>prohibiting <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>them from engaging in their traditional Podu agricultural system.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
This oppressive order was the beginning of the tribal revolt, also known as the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Manyam Rebellion.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
The Revolt\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The tribal folk <\/span><\/span><\/span>refused to work as forced labour<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> in the construction of roads and railway lines in the hilly region.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
Sitarama Raju demanded justice for them. He used <\/span><\/span><\/span>guerrilla warfare<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> to fight against the British. Along with his army of tribal people, he launched attacks and raided numerous police stations, killed many British officers, and stole arms and ammunition for their battle.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
He had plenty of local support and hence successfully evaded the British for a long time.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
His two-year armed struggle (1922-24) against the British frustrated the authorities to such an extent that a <\/span><\/span><\/span>reward of Rs.10,000\/- <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>was announced for anyone who could capture him dead or alive.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
Suppression of Revolt<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Ater a relentless chase by British forces, Rama Raju was caught and martyred\u00a0 on <\/span><\/span><\/span>May 7, 1924.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> This was followed by untold repression and violence that witnessed killings of scores of Raju’s followers in the weeks that followed his martyrdom. Over 400 activists were booked under several charges, including treason<\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

The special scheme, announced by the Women and Child Development Ministry (WCD).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

It will also provide insurance cover for the minor girl victim and her new-born under one roof to enable access to justice and rehabilitation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
Coverage :\u00a0 <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>Any girl who is below 18 years of age and is a victim of rape as per the provisions of the POCSO Act and has become pregnant due to such assault or rape would be covered under the scheme. Further analysis of the data shows that <\/span><\/span><\/span>99% of the cases were committed <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>against girls.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

SWAMIH Investment Fund I is a social impact fund specifically formed for completing stressed and stalled residential projects.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
It is considered as the <\/span><\/span><\/span>lender of last resort for distressed projects.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
It considers<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> first-time developers, established developers with troubled projects, developers with a poor track record of stalled projects, customer complaints and NPA accounts, and even projects where there are litigation issues.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
The Fund is<\/span><\/span><\/span> sponsored by the Ministry of Finance,<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> Government of India, and is <\/span><\/span><\/span>managed by SBICAP Ventures Ltd<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>., <\/span><\/span><\/span>a State Bank Group company<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
