{"id":17390,"date":"2023-09-20T17:25:16","date_gmt":"2023-09-20T11:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/current_affairs\/?p=17390"},"modified":"2023-09-20T17:25:18","modified_gmt":"2023-09-20T11:55:18","slug":"standards-clubs-of-bis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/20-09-2023\/standards-clubs-of-bis","title":{"rendered":"Standards Clubs of BIS"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS2\/Important aspects of governance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Context<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)<\/strong> establishes 6467 Standard Clubs for students across the nation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">About<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Standards Clubs initiative of BIS was <strong>started in 2021.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In this initiative,<strong> students from science backgrounds<\/strong> are guided by dedicated science teachers as mentors who are provided with specialised training by BIS.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>There are 5,562 Standards Clubs have been created in schools, and 905 clubs in different colleges, including 384 clubs in engineering colleges.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Objective<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To sensitise young members of society about the importance of standards in improving quality of life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It instils the paramount importance of quality, standards, and generating scientific temperament in young minds with the help of student-centric activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Financial Support<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>One-time Laboratory Grant<\/strong> (maximum of Rs. 50,000\/-) for high and higher secondary eligible Government Schools with Standards Clubs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rs. 1,00,000\/- to establish <strong>&#8216;Manak Kaksha&#8217;<\/strong> in government institutions where Standards Clubs have been formed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Activities Under Standard Clubs<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Standards writing competitions;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Quiz competitions;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Debates, essay writing and poster making;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exposure visits to laboratories &amp; Industrial units and more.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)<\/strong><br><\/span>&#8211; It is the National Standards Body which was established under the <strong>BIS Act 2016<\/strong> for the harmonious development of the activities of <strong>standardisation<\/strong>, marking and quality <strong>certification <\/strong>of goods and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.<br>&#8211;
