{"id":17311,"date":"2023-09-18T17:35:00","date_gmt":"2023-09-18T12:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/current_affairs\/?p=17311"},"modified":"2023-09-18T17:35:03","modified_gmt":"2023-09-18T12:05:03","slug":"indian-knowledge-systems-iks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/18-09-2023\/indian-knowledge-systems-iks","title":{"rendered":"Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS 2\/Education&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">In News<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Sarp-Rajju and five other indoor game<\/strong>s have been developed by I<strong>ndian Knowledge Systems (IKS) <\/strong>to promote interdisciplinary research on aspects of indigenous knowledge.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">About the Games<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The games have been divided into three segments: dice-based, strategic, and those based on engagement.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is in keeping with the ministry\u2019s focus on the shift from rote-based to fun-filled learning that is one of the themes of the <strong>National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These indoor games will be introduced to school children in the next academic year, under the <strong>Bhartiya Games programme <\/strong>that has already launched 75 outdoor games from different parts of the country in the current school year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some popular ones are<strong> Langdi-Taang (hopscotch<\/strong>),<strong> javelin throw, Patang Uddayan<\/strong> (kite flying), <strong>Seeta Uddhar<\/strong> (prisoner\u2019s base), <strong>Mardani Khel<\/strong> (a form of martial arts).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some indoor games have been included in the <strong>Jadui Pitara<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The aim is to promote creativity and a multi-faceted growth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS)\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is an innovative cell under the <strong>Ministry of Education (MoE)<\/strong> at All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) , New Delhi.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is established to promote interdisciplinary research on all aspects of IKS, preserve and disseminate IKS for further research and societal applications.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;It will actively engage in spreading the rich heritage of our country and traditional knowledge in the field of Arts and literature, Agriculture, Basic Sciences, Engineering &amp; Technology, Architecture, Management, Economics, etc.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Jadui Pitara (Magic Box)<\/strong><br><\/span><br>&#8211;
