{"id":17305,"date":"2023-09-18T17:27:14","date_gmt":"2023-09-18T11:57:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/current_affairs\/?p=17305"},"modified":"2023-09-18T17:27:16","modified_gmt":"2023-09-18T11:57:16","slug":"pm-vishwakarma-scheme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/18-09-2023\/pm-vishwakarma-scheme","title":{"rendered":"PM Vishwakarma Scheme"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS-2\/Governance, GS-3\/Economy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Context\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Recently,<strong> <\/strong>the Prime Minister&nbsp; has launched the <strong>PM<\/strong> <strong>Vishwakarma scheme.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">PM Vishwakarma Scheme<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>About:&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It is announced to give financial assistance to workers engaged in traditional crafts and skills.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is launched on the occasion of<strong> Vishwakarma Puja <\/strong>and is <strong>fully funded by the Union Government.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eligibility: <\/strong>Eighteen traditional crafts will be covered under this-Carpenter, Boat Maker, Armourer, Blacksmith, Hammer, Tool Kit Maker, Locksmith, Goldsmith, Potter, Sculptor, Stone breaker, Cobbler (Shoesmith\/ Footwear artisan), Mason (Rajmistri), Basket\/Mat\/Broom Maker\/Coir Weaver, Doll &amp; Toy Maker (Traditional), Barber, Garland maker,&nbsp; Washerman, Tailor; and Fishing Net Maker.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registration will be done hrough biometric based PM Vishwakarma portal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aim &amp; Significance:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>To strengthen the Guru shishya parampara or family based practice of traditional skills by artisans and craftspeople working with their hands and tools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To improve the quality as well as reach of the products and services of artisans and craftspeople.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To provide financial stability to those who make a living in these professions.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To provide skill training, loan assistance, incentives for digital transactions, incentives for purchase of equipment and support for marketing business<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Benefits under this Scheme:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Loan will be provided in <strong>two phases:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In First Phase, loan up to Rs 1,00,000 with Interest rate of 5% will be provided.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In Second Phase, loan up to Rs 2,00,000 with Interest rate of 5<br>% will be provided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PM Vishwakarma Certificate and Identity card will be provided.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Stipend of Rs 500 will be provided for skill training.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Amount&nbsp; of Rs 1500 will be provided to purchase modern tools.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Toolkit will be provided to aid the knowledge of workers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>About Vishwakarma Pooja<\/strong><br><\/span><br>&#8211; It is celebrated in India to honor Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect and craftsman of the universe.<br>&#8211; He is believed to have constructed the celestial abodes, weapons, vehicles of Gods and Goddesses.<br>&#8211; He was the architect of the<strong> mythical city Lanka <\/strong>mentioned in the Hindu epic Ramayana and is also said to have made the great image of <strong>Jagannatha at Puri<\/strong> in Odisha.<br>&#8211; It is an occasion to seek Lord Vishwakarm\u2019s blessings for skill, creativity and success in their respective fields.<br>&#8211; <strong>Celebration:<\/strong><br>1. People clean their workplaces, factories and machinery.<br>2. Idols and images of Lord Vishwakarma are cleaned and adorned with flowers, and chant vedic hymns.<br>3.
