They seek out the <strong>antigens (foreign materials)<\/strong> and stick to them in order to destroy them.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Laboratory-made monoclonal antibodies <strong>help stimulate the immune system.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The word \u201cmonoclonal\u201d refers to the fact that the <strong>antibodies created in the laboratory are clones.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monoclonal antibodies are <strong>used for diagnosis, disease treatment and research.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Monoclonal antibodies have already been <strong>tried and tested for the treatment of Covid 19 virus.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"506\" height=\"428\" src=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/current_affairs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/monoclonal-antibodies-3.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-17249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2023\/09\/monoclonal-antibodies-3.png 506w, https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2023\/09\/monoclonal-antibodies-3-300x254.png 300w, https:\/\/wp-images.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/ca\/uploads\/2023\/09\/monoclonal-antibodies-3-150x127.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 506px) 100vw, 506px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Though it is made available to India for compassionate use, the <strong>antibody is not a treatment. <\/strong>There is <strong>no authorised treatment for Nipah. <\/strong>It has to be administered in the early stage of the infection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>So far the information available says that <strong>it is safe but can\u2019t say about its&nbsp; effectiveness.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The antibody is used in Australia for the Hendra virus<\/strong>, which is <strong>bat-borne<\/strong>.
