{"id":17126,"date":"2023-09-14T17:05:57","date_gmt":"2023-09-14T11:35:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/current_affairs\/?p=17126"},"modified":"2023-09-14T17:06:00","modified_gmt":"2023-09-14T11:36:00","slug":"ecourts-phase-iii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/14-09-2023\/ecourts-phase-iii","title":{"rendered":"eCourts Phase III"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS2\/Government Policies and Interventions<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">News<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Union Cabinet recently approved the<strong> eCourts Project Phase III<\/strong> as a Central Sector Scheme spanning four years (2023 onwards) with financial outlay of Rs.7210 crore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">About<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The eCourts Mission Mode Project is the prime mover for <strong>improving access to justice using technology<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As<strong> part of the National eGovernance Plan,<\/strong> the e-Courts Project has been under implementation <strong>since 2007 for ICT enablement of the Indian Judiciary<\/strong>, the Phase II of which has concluded in 2023.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Phase III of the e-Courts Project in India is rooted in the <strong>philosophy of &#8220;access and inclusion&#8221; <\/strong>and aims to create a unified technology platform, which will provide <strong>a seamless and paperless interface<\/strong> between the courts, the litigants and other stakeholders.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Taking the gains of Phase-I and Phase-II to the next level, the e-Courts Phase-III <strong>aims to usher in a regime of maximum ease of justice by moving towards digital, online and paperless courts.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It includes<strong> digitization of the entire court records<\/strong> including legacy records and by bringing in universalization of e-Filing\/ e-Payments through saturation of all court complexes with e-Sewa Kendras.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It will put in place<strong> intelligent smart systems<\/strong> enabling data-based decision making for judges and registries while scheduling or prioritizing cases.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is being implemented under the joint partnership of <strong>Department of Justice, and eCommittee, Supreme Court of India, in a decentralized manner through the respective High Courts<\/strong> to develop a judicial system that would promote ease of justice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Expected outcomes of the scheme are as follows:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Citizens who do not have access to technology can access the judicial services from eSewa Kendras, thus <strong>bridging the digital divide.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Digitization of court records<\/strong> lays the foundation for all other digital services in the project.
