Daniel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">About Derna<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Derna (Darnah) is a port city in eastern Libya.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The city is bisected by the<strong> Wadi Derna, a seasonal river<\/strong> that flows from highlands to the south, and normally protected from flooding by dams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The city was once a hub for extremist groups in the years of chaos that followed the NATO.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Key Facts: military intervention, and the ousting and death of ruler Muammar Gaddafi.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Geographical Features:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The portion of the Mediterranean Sea north of Libya is often called the<strong> Libyan Sea<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Libya has the 10th-largest proven oil reserves in the world.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Libyan Desert:&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This desert covers much of Libya.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is one of the most arid and sun-baked places on earth.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In places, decades may pass without seeing any rainfall at all.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Slightly further to the south are the<strong> massifs of Arkenu, Uweinat, and Kissu<\/strong>.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>These are ancient <strong>granite mountains<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Climate:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Natural hazards come in the form of <strong>hot, dry, dust-laden sirocco <\/strong>(known in Libya as the gibli).\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>This is a southern wind blowing from one to four days in spring and autumn.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There are also <strong>dust storms and sandstorms<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Oases<\/strong> can also be found scattered throughout
