Industrial Research (CSIR) India and is known as the \u2018Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (SSB)\u2019 Award for Science and Technology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Purpose: <\/strong>It is the national honor bestowed upon young scientists and engineers in India to recognize their research and development activities.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eligibility: <\/strong>Any citizen of India engaged in research in any field of science and technology up to the age of <strong>45 years<\/strong> is eligible for the prize.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)<\/strong> working in India are also eligible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The prize is awarded on the basis of contributions made through work done in India only during the <strong>five years<\/strong> preceding the year of the prize.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nature of the prize: <\/strong>The prize comprises a citation, a plaque, and a cash award of Rs. 5 lakh.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In addition, recipients also get Rs. 15,000 per month up to the age of 65 years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>About Council of Scientific &amp; Industrial Research (CSIR)<\/strong><br><br>&#8211; It is known for its cutting edge R&amp;D knowledge base in diverse S&amp;T areas.<br>&#8211; It is a contemporary Research and Development (R&amp;D) organisation.\u00a0<br>&#8211; It has a dynamic network of <strong>37 national laboratories, 39 outreach centres, 3 Innovation Complexes<\/strong>, and five units with a pan-India presence.\u00a0<br><br>&#8211; <strong>Coverage:<\/strong><br>&#8211; It covers a <strong>wide spectrum of science and technology<\/strong> \u2013 from oceanography, geophysics, chemicals, drugs, genomics, biotechnology and nanotechnology to mining, aeronautics, instrumentation, environmental engineering and information technology.\u00a0<br>&#8211;
