{"id":17062,"date":"2023-09-11T10:09:40","date_gmt":"2023-09-11T10:09:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/current_affairs\/?p=17062"},"modified":"2023-09-13T10:09:56","modified_gmt":"2023-09-13T10:09:56","slug":"goa-roadmap-for-tourism-11-09-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/11-09-2023\/goa-roadmap-for-tourism-11-09-2023","title":{"rendered":"Goa Roadmap for Tourism\u00a0&#8211; 11-09-2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS-3\/Indian Economy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">In News<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The G20 leaders endorsed the significance of the <strong>Goa Roadmap for tourism<\/strong> as a path towards achieving<strong> United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 2030.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">About Goa Roadmap:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It provides a <strong>blueprint of the sustainable global tourism.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The roadmap offers a<strong> comprehensive strategy<\/strong> for nations to align their tourism policies with the <strong>United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Its focuses on the <strong>five interconnected priorities<\/strong> identified by the <strong>G20 Tourism Working Group<\/strong> i.e. <strong>Green tourism, digitalisation, skills, tourism MSMEs and destination management.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Other Initiatives Launched For Promotion of Sustainable Tourism<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>G20 and SDG Dashboard: <\/strong>The <strong>Ministry of Tourism in collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) <\/strong>has launched this program.<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It will serve as a <strong>global repository<\/strong> showcasing best practices and case studies of sustainable tourism from G20 nations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tourism for tomorrow: <\/strong>This program is announced by the Ministry of Tourism to <strong>identify <\/strong>case studies and best practices<strong> aligned with five priorities of G20 Goa roadmap,<\/strong> which have been implemented by the states, Destinations and Industry Stakeholders, which can be<strong> replicated and scaled up across the country.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The competition will be launched on <strong>World Tourism Day on September 27.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Travel for LiFE Initiative:<\/strong> It is inspired by the Prime Minister\u2019s vision of <strong>LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment).&nbsp;<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It involves tourists and business to take simple actions to take actions for environmental protection and climate action.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ministry of Tourism has aligned its programs and initiatives for promoting <strong>sustainable tourism under \u2018Travel for LiFE\u2019 program and the campaign<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO)<\/strong><\/span><br><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><br><\/span>&#8211; It was founded in <strong>1946 <\/strong>and has its<strong> headquarters in Madrid, Spain.<\/strong><br>&#8211; It comprises <strong>159 member states,6 associate members, 2 observers <\/strong>and <strong>India joined it in 1975.<\/strong><br>&#8211; It is the <strong>world&#8217;s leading international tourist organization<\/strong>, promoting tourism as a driver of economic growth, inclusive development, and environmental sustainability.<br>1.
