{"id":16997,"date":"2023-09-12T13:25:44","date_gmt":"2023-09-12T13:25:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/current_affairs\/?p=16997"},"modified":"2023-09-13T10:34:23","modified_gmt":"2023-09-13T10:34:23","slug":"ancient-art-of-stitch-ship-method-of-shipbuilding-12-09-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/12-09-2023\/ancient-art-of-stitch-ship-method-of-shipbuilding-12-09-2023","title":{"rendered":"Ancient Art of \u2018Stitch Ship Method\u2019 of Shipbuilding \u2013 12-09-2023"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Syllabus: GS1\/Art &amp; Culture<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Context:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India&#8217;s rich maritime tradition is set to come alive with the revival of the<strong> stitched ship.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">About:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Indian Navy, Ministry of Culture, and M\/s Hodi Innovations, Goa collaborated <strong>to reconstruct an ancient stitched ship<\/strong>, reminiscent of the ships that once sailed the oceans on India&#8217;s ancient maritime trade routes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Project was<strong> approved by the National Implementation Committee<\/strong>, <strong>chaired by the Hon\u2019ble Home Minister of India<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is considered as a cultural and civilizational heritage and symbolised the rich shipbuilding legacy of India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Stitch Ship Method of Shipbuilding<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Using this age-old technique, the wooden planks will be shaped using the traditional steaming method to conform to the shape of the hull.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The stitching work of the ship was undertaken by a team of traditional shipwrights,<strong> led by Shri.
