  • The scheme resulted in a rise in the number of births in the Parsi community.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • It was formulated by the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Ministry of Minority Affairs<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> in September 2013.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Objective: <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>To reverse the declining trend of Parsi population by adopting a <\/span><\/span><\/span>scientific protocol<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and structured interventions to\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span>stabilize their population<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and increase the population of Parsis in India.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

  • The Government plans to bring in anchor investors to invest up to ?25,000 crore in the shares of<\/span><\/span><\/span> Life Insurance Corporation\u00a0 of India (LIC) <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>in its planned mega initial public offering (IPO).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Anchor investor is a concept launched by <\/span><\/span><\/span>Securities Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in 2009.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • They are institutional investors who are invited to <\/span><\/span><\/span>subscribe the shares before the Initial Public Offers (IPOs).<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • They are required to take up the share at a <\/span><\/span><\/span>fixed price<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> to make other <\/span><\/span><\/span>investors confident<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and <\/span><\/span><\/span>improve the demand of the share.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

    • UNSC is one of the UN\u2019s six main organs and is aimed at maintaining international peace and security.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • It held its first session on 17th January 1946 in Westminster, London.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

Bharitalasuchus Tapani<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/td>\n

Recently, researchers from the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> have thrown light on a <\/span><\/span><\/span>carnivorous reptile<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> that lived <\/span><\/span><\/span>240 million years ago<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

  • The specimens have been found in the rocks of the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Yerrapalli Formation<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> in what is now <\/span><\/span><\/span>Telangana<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Scientific Name: <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>Bharitalasuchus tapani<\/em><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n
      \n
    • In Telugu, Bhari means huge, Tala means head, and Suchus is the name of the Egyptian crocodile-headed deity.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • The species is named after <\/span><\/span><\/span>paleontologist Tapan Roy Chowdhury<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> in honour of his contribution to<\/span><\/span><\/span> Indian vertebrate paleontology<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and especially his extensive work on the Yerrapalli Formation tetrapod fauna.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • It belongs to a <\/span><\/span><\/span>genus and species previously unknown<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> to science and to a <\/span><\/span><\/span>family of extinct reptiles named Erythrosuchidae<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

      • The first Erythrosuchidae remains were discovered in South Africa in 1905 and more were found in China and Russia.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • The South African one is about 245 million years old, while the ones from China and Russia are around 240 million years old and the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Indian fossil is one of the youngest<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • These were <\/span><\/span><\/span>robust animals with big heads<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and <\/span><\/span><\/span>large teeth<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> probably predated other smaller reptiles.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • They were approximately the <\/span><\/span><\/span>size of an adult male lion<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and might have been the largest predators in their ecosystems.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • Tooth marks have been found in its first trunk vertebra<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, which indicates that a smaller animal took a bite probably after the death of the specimen.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

    • It occurs in evergreen or deciduous tropical or subtropical forests with deep, well-drained and moist soils, within an elevational range of 300 to 1,000 m above sea level.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • It is native to India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Java and Indonesia.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Features<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

      • It is a<\/span><\/span><\/span> large hardwood tree<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> that can grow up to 40 meter tall.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

        • Timber is of high commercial value and wild subpopulations are widely overexploited.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
