      • Aim:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> Connect all 1,50,000 HWCs using the hub-and-spoke model by December 2022.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

  • According to IUCN, it is the <\/span><\/span><\/span>most invasive turtle<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and also the <\/span><\/span><\/span>most commonly traded species of turtle<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> in the world.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • This turtle is an extremely popular pet due to its small size, easy maintenance, and relatively low cost.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

  • Was a citizen of India on or after 26th January 1950; or<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Was eligible to become a citizen of India on 26th January 1950; or<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Is a child or grandchild of such a person, among other eligibility criteria.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  • The Particularly Vulnerable Tribal Groups (PVTGs) comprise <\/span><\/span><\/span>8.6% of the total population of India<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

    • They are more vulnerable among the other tribal groups in India.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Background:<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

      • In 1973, the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Dhebar Commission<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> created Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs) as a separate category, which are less developed among the tribal groups.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • In 2006, the Government of India renamed the PTGs as PVTGs.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • In 1975 the Government of India initiated to identify the most vulnerable tribal groups as a separate category called PVTGs and declared 52 such groups.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • In 1993 an additional 23 groups were added to the category, making it a total of 75 PVTGs out of 705 Scheduled Tribes.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • The scheme for the Development of PVTGs scheme was initiated by the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Ministry of Tribal Affairs<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> in 2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n
