AICTE Lilavati Awards<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n

  • These were instituted and are presented by the All India Council for Technical Education<\/strong> (AICTE).\n
      \n
    • AICTE was set up in November 1945<\/strong> as a national-level apex advisory body<\/strong> to conduct a survey on the facilities available for technical education and to promote development in the country in a coordinated and integrated manner.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • The awards are aimed to award the efforts taken in the field of women\u2019s development<\/strong> and create <\/strong>\u2018equality and fairness<\/strong>\u2019 for women in all spheres of their lives.<\/li>\n
    • All the stakeholders would get a unique opportunity to present a solution to the prevalent issues of gender discrimination<\/strong>, such as illiteracy, unemployment, economic and nutritional disparities, maternal mortality, human rights, etc.<\/li>\n
    • The theme for 2020 awards<\/strong> was ‘Women Empowerment<\/strong>\u2019.\n

KAZIND Exercise<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n

  • It is the annual military exercise<\/strong> between India and Kazakhstan<\/strong> armies.<\/li>\n
  • It is conducted alternatively in Kazakhstan and India<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • The aim <\/strong>of the exercise is joint training<\/strong> of troops in counter-insurgency<\/strong> and counter-terrorism<\/strong> operations in both jungle and mountainous terrains<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
  • It will enhance the level of defence cooperation<\/strong> further fostering bilateral relations<\/strong> between the two nations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

  • It is a joint programme <\/strong>of the Department of Science and Technology<\/strong> (DST), Government of India and the British Council<\/strong>.\n

    • The British Council is the facilitator, creating ties between Indian stakeholders and UK institutions to achieve the desired transformation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Aims<\/strong>\n
        \n
      • To establish a Gender Equality framework in order to counter the<\/strong> gender disparity in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Medicine and Mathematics <\/strong>(STEMM).<\/li>\n
      • To create a new ecosystem that builds competencies<\/strong> of Indian institutions and enables them to establish sustainable partnerships.<\/li>\n
      • To nudge higher education institutions<\/strong> (HEIs) and research organisations <\/strong>to better support diversity and inclusion for talent progression.<\/li>\n
      • To increase recruitment, retention, and women\u2019s progression throughout their professional journeys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • Institutions that sign the GATI charter will adopt gender equality principles and create Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound<\/strong> (SMART) action plans<\/strong> for systemic and cultural transformation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

  • The CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI) is a research institute created and funded by the Government of India.<\/li>\n
  • \u00a0It was established in Nagpur in 1958 with a focus on water supply, sewage <\/strong>disposal, communicable diseases<\/strong> and to some extent on industrial pollution <\/strong>and occupational diseases<\/strong> found common in post-independent India.<\/li>\n

  • Russia\u2019s COVID-19 vaccine \u2014 Sputnik V \u2014 has been recommended for emergency use authorisation<\/strong> in India following a meeting of the Subject Expert Committee (SEC).<\/li>\n
  • If approved by the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI).<\/strong>\n
      \n
    • DCGI under the gamut of Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO)<\/strong> and is responsible for approval of licenses of specified categories of drugs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • It would be the third vaccine to be made available in India after the Serum Institute of India\u2019s Covishield and Bharat Biotech\u2019s Covaxin<\/strong>.<\/li>\n
    • Sputnik V, developed by Russia\u2019s Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology.<\/strong><\/li>\n
    • It uses two different viruses that cause the common cold (adenovirus) in humans.<\/li>\n
    • The adenoviruses are weakened so they cannot replicate in humans and cannot cause disease.<\/li>\n
    • Sputnik V is approved for use in over 55 countries with a total population of over 1.5 billion people.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  • Niti Aayog launched India Energy Dashboards (IED) Version 2.0.<\/strong>\n

    • The first version was launched\u00a0 1.0 in May 2017.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • It is an endeavour to establish a central energy database<\/strong> of the country.<\/li>\n
    • IED is an initial step towards building a comprehensive, open and freely accessible energy data porta<\/strong>l for India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      • Energy data published\/provided by Central Electricity Authority, Coal Controller\u2019s Organisation, and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas is compiled in the Dashboards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • The IED provides time-series data from FY 2005-06 until FY 2019-20.<\/strong><\/li>\n
        • IED provides data at sub-yearly frequencies as well.<\/li>\n
        • This includes monthly data and API linked data from some portals maintained by the government agencies.\n

          • The monthly data is sourced from the monthly reports that are regularly published for the electricity, petroleum and natural gas sectors. API linked data from Saubhagya<\/li>\n
          • It aims to provide single-window access to the energy data for the country,<\/li>\n

    • Explore item-wise Export-Import policy & statistics, Track IEC Portfolio.<\/li>\n
    • AI-based round-the-clock assistance for trade queries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Benefits: <\/strong>Promoting ease of doing business and providing quick access to information to importers\/exporters.\n

      • Provide a key role in determining India\u2019s growth and competitiveness.<\/li>\n
