{"id":14514,"date":"2021-03-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-23T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/current_affairs\/uncategorized\/23-03-2021\/right-to-health-in-rajasthan\/"},"modified":"2025-07-25T11:37:29","modified_gmt":"2025-07-25T06:07:29","slug":"right-to-health-in-rajasthan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/23-03-2021\/right-to-health-in-rajasthan","title":{"rendered":"Right to Health in Rajasthan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In News<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Recently, the <strong>Indian Institute of Health Management Research<\/strong> (IIHMR), Jaipur has joined efforts to bring robust legislation on the<strong> Right to Health in Rajasthan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Highlights<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Rajasthan Model of Public Health<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The state government announced the implementation of the <strong>Rajasthan Model of Public Health<\/strong> in the state\u2019s Budget for 2021-22.<\/li>\n<li>It would include a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/13-03-2023\/rajasthans-right-to-health-bill\"><strong>Right to Health Bill<\/strong><\/a> as well as measures for <strong>preventive, primary and curative care<\/strong> as envisioned by the <strong>World Health Organisation<\/strong> (WHO).<\/li>\n<li>It will <strong>emphasise setting the standards<\/strong> for the delivery of services, human resources and medical facilities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Mukhya Mantri Chiranjeevi Yojana<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>A <strong>universal health care scheme<\/strong> with an<strong> allocation of Rs. 3,500 crore<\/strong> in the upcoming financial year.<\/li>\n<li>It will be launched on <strong>1st May<\/strong> as part of measures to <strong>reinforce health infrastructure<\/strong> and <strong>ensure accessibility<\/strong> to all citizens.<\/li>\n<li>It stipulates <strong>cashless health services<\/strong> up to Rs. 5 lakh to every family in the State.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Recommendation by IIHMR<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Setting of standards in accordance with the resources available<\/strong> in the State to match with the rights of patients as well as the service providers.\n<ul>\n<li>The quality of medical services could not be measured unless the standards were laid down as per the availability of resources at primary and tertiary levels.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The state governments<strong> should first set the norms<\/strong> and <strong>later allow flexibility to suit the diverse needs <\/strong>of different regions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Indian Public Health Standards <\/strong>(IPHS), <strong>set by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare<\/strong>, have also been <strong>revised <\/strong>keeping in view the changing protocols of the existing programmes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 735px;\" border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"vertical-align: top; width: 468.0pt;\"><strong>Indian Public Health Standards<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>These were <strong>published in 2007<\/strong> under the <strong>National Rural Health Mission<\/strong> (NHM).\n<ul>\n<li>NHM was launched in <strong>2005 <\/strong>to strengthen the <strong>Rural Public Health System<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It seeks to provide effective health care to the rural people with a special focus on the States and Union Territories (UTs) with weak public health indicators and\/or weak infrastructure.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>IPHS are a <strong>set of uniform standards<\/strong> envisaged to improve the quality of health care delivery in the country and have been used as the <strong>reference point for public health care<\/strong> infrastructure planning and up-gradation in the States and UTs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehindu.com\/todays-paper\/tp-national\/research-institution-joins-efforts-to-bring-law-on-right-to-health\/article34127657.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TH<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In News Recently, the Indian Institute of Health Management Research (IIHMR), Jaipur has joined efforts to bring robust legislation on the Right to Health in Rajasthan.
