{"id":14442,"date":"2021-03-18T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/current_affairs\/uncategorized\/18-03-2021\/esanjeevani\/"},"modified":"2021-03-18T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-03-18T00:00:00","slug":"esanjeevani","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/18-03-2021\/esanjeevani","title":{"rendered":"eSanjeevani"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In News: <\/strong>Union government\u2019s eSanjeevani completes 30 lakh consultations, serving 35000 patients each day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About eSanjeevani<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#8216;eSanjeevani&#8217;, is a web-based comprehensive telemedicine solution launched by the <strong>Ministry of Health and Family Welfare<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is modeled on \u2018Sanjeevani\u2019 CDAC Mohali\u2019s&#8217; flagship integrated telemedicine solution.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Benefits<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Extended reach of specialized healthcare services to masses in both rural areas and isolated communities.<\/li>\n<li>Enhancing quality of medical services.<\/li>\n<li>Addressing issues pertaining to uneven distribution<\/li>\n<li>Shortage of infrastructural as well as human resources.<\/li>\n<li>Makes healthcare services equitable by bridging the digital divide.<\/li>\n<li>Can also provide medical education to interns , people across various Common Service Centers (CSCs), etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>eSanjeevani is operational in <strong>31 States and UTs and daily over 35,000 patients across the country<\/strong> are using this innovative digital medium.<\/li>\n<li>Two variants of eSanjeevani\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Doctor to doctor (eSanjeevani AB-HWC)<\/strong> telemedicine platform based on hub and spoke model<\/li>\n<li><strong>Patient to doctor telemedicine platform (eSanjeevani OPD)<\/strong> which provides outpatient services to the citizens in the confines of their homes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Achievements of eSanjeevani<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>eSanjeevani AB-HWC <\/strong>is being implemented at Health and Wellness Centres under <strong>Ayushman Bharat Scheme<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Aim:<\/strong> By December 2022 it will be made operational at 1,55,000 Health and Wellness Centres across India.<\/li>\n<li>Rolled out in 2019 in Andhra Pradesh, the first State to roll out eSanjeevani AB-HWC services.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>eSanjeevani OPD:<\/strong> Provides digital health services to the citizens through more than 250 online OPDs setup on eSanjeevani OPD.\n<ul>\n<li>Over 220 of these online OPDs are specialist OPDs and the rest are general OPDs.<\/li>\n<li><strong>eSanjeevani OPD <\/strong>was rolled out in April 2020 during the first lockdown in the country when all the OPDs were closed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>In line with the <strong>National Digital Health Mission,<\/strong> eSanjeevani is also boosting the digital health ecosystem in the country.<\/li>\n<li>Leading 3 States in terms of adoption (number of consultations) of eSanjeevani are\n<ul>\n<li>Tamil Nadu (6,42,708).<\/li>\n<li>Uttar Pradesh (6,31,019).<\/li>\n<li>Karnataka (6,07,305).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The District with the largest number of consultations is Salem (Tamil Nadu) (1,23,658).<\/li>\n<li>Data shows that citizens in tier-3 and 4 cities find eSanjeevani even more useful.<\/li>\n<li>Further 18.15% of the patients on eSanjeevani OPD fall in the age group of up to 18 years and the majority of patients (50.35%) fall between 20 and 40 years whereas 22.89% patients are between 40 and 60 years of age and around 9% patients are senior citizens.<\/li>\n<li>The data shows that female patients (54.66%) outnumber male patients on eSanjeevani OPD.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/swarajyamag.com\/news-brief\/telemedicine-union-govts-esanjeevani-completes-30-lakh-consultations-serving-35000-patients-each-day\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Swarajya<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In News: Union government\u2019s eSanjeevani completes 30 lakh consultations, serving 35000 patients each day.
