width:468.0pt\">\n<p><strong>SERB Women Excellence Award<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The award instituted by the SERB, Department of Science and Technology (DST),<strong> recognises and rewards outstanding research achievements of young women<\/strong> scientists in frontier areas of Science and Engineering.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>About Developments <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>smart nanodevice<\/strong> developed by the scientists <strong>helped in the detection <\/strong>of the <strong>biomarkers of the diseases <\/strong>using <strong>graphene functionalized <\/strong>with <strong>amine and conjugated with specific antibodies.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>developed senso<\/strong>r offers <strong>several key advantages<\/strong>, such as <strong>ultra-high sensitivity, ease <\/strong>of <strong>operation, and a short response time<\/strong>, that can be <strong>easily integrated into a chip for point-of-care testing. <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The developed sensor<strong> exhibited a clear advantage<\/strong> over <strong>conventional techniques<\/strong>, and it is<strong> highly sensitive<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Work is based on understanding the <strong>mechanism of interaction<\/strong> between<strong> nanomaterials and biomolecules<\/strong> on the <strong>surface of devices called transducers<\/strong> that <strong>receive energy from one system<\/strong> and transmit it for the <strong>development of a new generation of biosensors for clinical diagnosis<\/strong> of bacterial and viral disease, veterinary and agricultural applications, food analysis and environmental monitoring.<\/li>\n<li><strong>More steps<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Scientists have developed an <strong>electrochemical as well as a microfluidic-based nanosensor<\/strong> for the<strong> detection of pesticides<\/strong> used primarily to <strong>control foliage and soil-borne insect pests in Fruits and Vegetables. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In a parallel study, the lab has<strong> developed ultrafast sensing of a biomarker of cancer<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>The <strong>developed cancer biosensor called urokinase plasminogen<\/strong> activator r<strong>eceptor (uPAR) <\/strong>may be used as a quantitative tool, making it a tenable alternative for the detection of uPAR in cancer patients.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Recently, the lab has<strong> fabricated quick, sensitive microfluidic devices <\/strong>for <strong>toxin (Aflatoxin M1) detection in milk and meat samples<\/strong> with specific molecules called aptamers.<\/li>\n<li>They have developed a<strong> microfluidic paper device<\/strong> for the rapid detection of <strong>aflatoxin <\/strong>B1 for on-site detection of <strong>food toxins for both qualitativ<\/strong>e and <strong>quantitative analysis in food safety. <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Significance <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>They can improve early diagnosis of the diseases, ensuring prompt, more effective, and less expensive treatment.\n<ul>\n<li>Scientists are focusing to develop new cost-effective and field-applicable analytical devices which<strong> offer Point of Care (POC) diagnostics<\/strong> for early detection of disease, facilitating timely management to resolve healthcare problems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>New technology for High Electron Mobility Transistor will make India self-reliant in power transistor technology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" style=\"width:735px\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"background-color:#fff2cc;
