width: 110.25pt;\">\n<h3>Sri Mannathu Padmanabhan<\/h3>\n<\/td>\n<td style=\"background-color: #cfe2f3; width: 357.75pt;\">\n<ul>\n<li>The Prime Minister of India has paid tributes to <strong>Sri Mannathu Padmanabhan <\/strong>on his <strong>Punya Tithi<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>About <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>He was born in <strong>Perunna, on 02 January 1878 AD<\/strong>, which is a small <strong>town in Kerala.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>He was a <strong>great philanthropist<\/strong> who dedicated his life to the<strong> upliftment of society and the Nair community.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Career <\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>He started his career as a teacher in <strong>1893 in a Government Primary School<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0In 1905, he <strong>started practising law in the Magistrates Courts <\/strong>and soon became a<strong> leading member of the Bar.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In <strong>1914 \u201cNair Bharatiya Jana Sangh<\/strong>\u201d was formed by him to <strong>organise and bring social upliftment to the Nair community<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0In 1924 he took part in the <strong>Vaikkom and Guruvayoor temple-entry<\/strong> campaigns and led the famous <strong>\u201cSavarna Jadha\u201d,<\/strong> an <strong>anti-untouchability agitation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>He led the famous \u201c<strong>Guruvayoor Sathyagraham\u201d<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>In 1950 he renamed himself as \u201c<strong>Padmanabhan &#8221; removing<\/strong> the surname, stating that cast <strong>should not be a dividing factor amongst<\/strong> human beings.<\/li>\n<li>In 1959, the President of India, for his outstanding and<strong> unselfish social service conferred him<\/strong> with the title of\u00a0 \u201c<strong>Bharatha Kesari\u201d [Lion of India]<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>He was also awarded the \u201c<strong>Padma Bhushan\u201d<\/strong> in 1966, by the Government of India.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"height: 187px;
