  • India\u2019s biggest silk fair was<\/strong> recently inaugurated by the Textiles Minister.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • It is a 5 days event, being organised on Indian Silk Export Promotion Council\u2019s virtual platform<\/strong> (Virtual due to COVID).<\/em><\/li>\n
  • India is the 2nd largest producer of Silk in World<\/strong>.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • India is the only country in the world that produces all four major varieties of silk – Mulberry, Eri, Tassar, and Muga<\/strong>.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • India has around 11 Geographical Indications<\/strong> such as Pochampally Ikat<\/strong>, Chanderpaul Silk<\/strong>, Mysore Silk<\/strong>, Kanchipuram Silk<\/strong>, Muga Silk<\/strong>, Salem Silk<\/strong>, Arni Silk<\/strong>, Champa Silk<\/strong>, Bhagalpur Silk<\/strong>, Banaras Brocade and Sarees,<\/strong> etc.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  • NEWS<\/strong>: The first Aadi Mahotsav post the pandemic is taking place between January 20-January 30, 2021 at GPRA Complex, New Moti Bagh, New Delhi<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Organised by TRIFED <\/strong>in association with the Ministry of Tribal Affairs<\/strong> <\/em><\/li>\n
  • Purpose<\/em><\/strong>: To showcase tribal art and culture<\/strong> by having their crafts and natural produce and cuisine<\/strong> on display. <\/em><\/li>\n
  • In 2019-20, TRIFED has organized 16 Aadi Mahotsav<\/strong> all across the country (Please note: It\u2019s not an Annual Event.<\/strong>)<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Tribes constitute over 8% of our population<\/strong> however, they are among the disadvantaged sections of the society. <\/em><\/li>\n
  • The fair works towards delivering the message that instead of need to modernise them, a lot can be learnt from tribals by Urban India<\/strong>.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • Their crafts have a timeless appeal and are characterised by natural simplicity<\/strong>.<\/em><\/li>\n
  • The wide range of handicrafts which include hand-woven cotton, silk fabrics, wool, metal craft, terracotta, bead-work, all need to be preserved and promoted<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  • Vembanad is the longest lake in India<\/strong>, and the largest lake in the state of Kerala<\/strong>. <\/em><\/li>\n
  • With an area of 2033 square kilometres, it is the second-largest Ramsar site in India<\/strong> only after the Sunderbans in West Bengal<\/strong>.<\/em><\/li>\n

    • ‘Prabuddha Bharata’ is a monthly journal of the Ramakrishna Order which was started by Swami Vivekananda. It has been in publication since 1896 and carries articles on social sciences and humanities comprising historical, psychological, cultural and social sciences themes.<\/em><\/li>\n
    • Prabuddha Bharata’ is regarded as a significant medium for spreading the message of India\u2019s ancient spiritual wisdom. <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

      CSIR has demonstrated three Variants of Mob Control Vehicles .<\/em><\/p>\n

      • Three innovative variants \u2018Compact, Medium, Heavy<\/strong>\u2019<\/em>\n

        • \u00a0The Heavy category of these MCV prototypes has a 7.5-ton payload capacity.<\/em><\/li>\n
        • The Medium category is of 2.5-ton payload capacity.<\/em><\/li>\n
        • The compact one is a tractor-based vehicle for easy maneuvering. <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          • The prototypes consist of several independent operational units unified as per vehicle category and operational requirement during mob control.<\/em>\n

            • \u00a0Few examples of the operational units are height adjustable front shovel, retractable protective front shield, all round irritant spray system, foam spray system<\/strong> and tear smoke munitions system. <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
