{"id":13936,"date":"2021-02-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-02-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/current_affairs\/uncategorized\/20-02-2021\/navdex-21-and-idex-21\/"},"modified":"2021-02-20T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-02-20T00:00:00","slug":"navdex-21-and-idex-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nextias.com\/ca\/current-affairs\/20-02-2021\/navdex-21-and-idex-21","title":{"rendered":"NAVDEX 21 and IDEX 21"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>In News- <\/strong>Indian Naval Ship Pralaya reached <strong>Abu Dhabi<\/strong> to participate in <strong>NAVDEX 21 and IDEX 21 <\/strong>which are<strong> <\/strong>scheduled from February 20 to 25.<\/p>\n<p><strong>About<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>NAVDEX-<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>It is a<strong> Naval Defence Exhibition(<\/strong>NAVDEX ) that provides a <strong>dedicated and focused platform<\/strong> for i<strong>nternational naval defence<\/strong> and <strong>maritime security companies <\/strong>to showcase thei<strong>r technologies and services to an international audience.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>IDEX-<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) <\/strong>is the only<strong> international defence exhibition<\/strong> and conference in the MENA region <strong>demonstrating the latest technology<\/strong> across <strong>land, sea and air sectors of defence<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>It is a unique <strong>platform to establish and strengthen relationships<\/strong> with government departments, businesses and armed forces throughout the region.<\/li>\n<li>They are <strong>one of the world&#8217;s<\/strong> most prominent <strong>annual naval defence<\/strong> and <strong>maritime security exhibitions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Significance<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The participation of INS Pralaya in <strong>NAVDEX 21 and IDEX 21 <\/strong>highlights the strong <strong>bilateral relationship shared by India and the UAE.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table border=\"1\" cellspacing=\"0\" style=\"width:742px\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"vertical-align:top; width:468.0pt\">\n<p><strong>INS Pralaya<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cfstatic.nextias.com\/cdn-cgi\/image\/format=auto\/file_library\/mix_content\/627440565724342800_image.png\" style=\"height:197px; width:351px\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>INS Pralaya was <strong>commissioned in the Indian Navy<\/strong> on December 18, 2002.<\/li>\n<li>It is the <strong>second ship of the indigenously<\/strong> built <strong>Prabal Class Missile Vessels.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The <strong>56-m long ship<\/strong> is <strong>capable of speeds<\/strong> in excess of <strong>35 knots<\/strong> and is fitted with an <strong>impressive array of weapons and sensors.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>These include a <strong>76.2 mm medium range gun, 30 mm close-range guns<\/strong>, <strong>chaff launchers and long-range surface to surface missiles<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The ship is a versatile platform capable of performing a wide variety of surface warfare missions<\/li>\n<li>The ship was built <strong>indigenously <\/strong>at <strong>Goa Shipyard Limited.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p><strong>Defence Ties between India and UAE<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bilateral Defence Interaction between <strong>India and UAE <\/strong>has been steadily growing in accordance with other <strong>aspects of the bilateral relationship.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>There have been r<strong>egular high level &#038; functional level <\/strong>exchanges between the <strong>two countries. <\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The<strong> Navy Ships of both countries<\/strong> have been <strong>making regular port calls<\/strong> for enhancing <strong>bilateral defence co-operation.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>In fact, indigenously built guided-missile destroyer<strong> INS Mysore will also be <\/strong>making a port call at Abu Dhabi from <strong>February 19 to February 21.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>India and the UAE had in 2017 upgraded bilateral relations to a &#8216;<strong>Comprehensive Strategic Partnership&#8217;<\/strong>.\n<ul>\n<li>This was done during the visit of Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi to India as the<strong> Republic Day chief guest.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Defence ties between the two nations were<\/strong> further strengthened in <strong>March 2018 <\/strong>as a result of <strong>joint-naval exercise GULF STAR-1.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>The second edition of this <strong>bilateral naval exercise<\/strong> is likely to be conducted later this year.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aninews.in\/news\/national\/general-news\/indian-navy-ship-pralaya-reaches-abu-dhabi-to-participate-in-navdex-21-idex-2120210220001559\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Source :ANI<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In News- Indian Naval Ship Pralaya reached Abu Dhabi to participate in NAVDEX 21 and IDEX 21 which are scheduled from February 20 to 25.
