Movement Tracker in GPS) <\/strong>aps\n<ul>\n<li>Food delivery tracking on apps<\/li>\n<li>Indian Post and Courier tracking<\/li>\n<li>Remote Sensing Surveys like Drought monitoring by the Government of India<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>New Changes Introduced<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Free access to geospatial data:<\/strong> The Geospatial data will be made available in the open public domain by the Department of Science and technology.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Self Certification<\/strong>: Startups don\u2019t need pre and post-approval certificate for adherence to guidelines. A self-declaration will work.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Promotion to New Technologies<\/strong>: The government will promote the latest map-making technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Need\/ Benefits of the New Changes<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Reduce Red Tapism<\/strong>: From creation to the dissemination of maps, Indian companies are required to seek licenses, follow a cumbersome system of pre-approvals and permissions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Promote Innovations<\/strong>: Freely available maps and other spatial data will help the entrepreneurs to solve the present-day problem more efficiently.<\/li>\n<li><strong>India&#8217;s vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat<\/strong> and the <strong>goal of 5 trillion-dollar economy:<\/strong> The new innovations will aid in achieving self-reliance.\n<ul>\n<li>The new industry of Geo-Mapping and Surveying is estimated to be worth Rs 1 lakh crore.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Global Practice:<\/strong> As highlighted by PM what is available globally needs not to be restricted in India.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Empower Small Businesses and Farmers: <\/strong>The new policies will empower the small businesses and farmers with cost-effective solutions from Competitive Private Sector.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scope for Indian Industries\/ Application in Various Sectors<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Agriculture<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Landsat and Advanced Wide Field Sensor (AWiFS) imagery<\/strong> can be used to <strong>identify fertile land and monitor crop growth<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pest management<\/strong> can be done more effectively by tracking the locust movement and studying canopy colour.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Insurance Claims<\/strong> can be quickly settled with fewer frauds.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Better Nutrient Management of plants<\/strong> by a device Green Seeker developed by Trimble.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Disaster Management<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Developing mitigation strategies after identification of patterns of <strong>Forest Fire.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>GIS-based Fire management, Earthquake and Flood management plans<\/strong> can be developed for immediate response.<\/li>\n<li>Flood inundation modelling was done in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh using UAV.<\/li>\n<li>GIS and GPS based automatic response system are a necessary part of Smart cities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Homeland Security<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Integrated Web GIS-based Crime Investigation System for Railway Passenger Safety<\/strong> was utilised for making journeys safer.<\/li>\n<li>It helped in the identification of vulnerable areas, hotspots of criminal activities and hideouts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Infrastructure<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Geospatial Data Modelling for Creation of Web-Portal Services for Industrial and Infrastructure Development under GOiPLUS in Odisha<\/strong> was used for effective land allocation and management.<\/li>\n<li><strong>eLoc<\/strong>, <strong>India\u2019s First National Digital Address System, <\/strong>was introduced by y MapmyIndia to reduce inconsistencies in conventional address systems.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Natural Resources<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Use GIS-based mapping service to effectively implement Sujal Scheme for Water Management by Maharastra Government.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Railways<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>Indian Railways is effectively utilising mapping services to keep track of its resources.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Source: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/news\/india\/rules-on-geospatial-data-maps-liberalized-11613380935979.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Livemint<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In News: Department of Science and Technology has issued new guidelines to provide free access to geospatial data and liberalised the usage policy.
