  • Recently, The Income Tax department has notified three official email IDs for taxpayers to register their grievances over different aspects of the<\/span><\/span><\/span> faceless assessment schem<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>e.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Key Points\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    • It was launched by the Income Tax Department in October 2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • Under it, a taxpayer or an <\/span><\/span><\/span>assessee is not required to visit <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>an I-T department office or meet a department official for income <\/span><\/span><\/span>tax-related businesses.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • Administered <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\u00a0-Faceless assessment is administered through separate units within the tax department each of which has a specific and important role in the process, viz assessment units, verification units, technical units and review units. All these units work closely with the National e-assessment Centre (NeAC) and Regional e-assessment Centre (ReAC).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

PM Ujjwala Yojana 2.0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the second phase of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY).\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Key Points\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    • It is a scheme of the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Ministry <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>of <\/span><\/span><\/span>Petroleum & Natural Gas for providing LPG<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> connections to women from <\/span><\/span><\/span>Below Poverty Line (BPL) household<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>s. It was launched in 2016.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • During Ujjwala 1.0, a target was set to provide <\/span><\/span><\/span>LPG connections to 5 crore<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> women members of BPL households.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • Subsequently, the scheme was expanded in April 2018 to include <\/span><\/span><\/span>women beneficiaries from seven more categories (SC\/ST, PMAY, AAY<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, <\/span><\/span><\/span>Most backward classes, tea garden, forest dwellers, Islands).<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • \u00a0Also, the target was revised to 8 Crore LPG connections.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

      • This target was achieved in August 2019, seven months ahead of the target date.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • PMUY 2.0:\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n
          \n
        • In the Union budget for FY 21-22, provision for an additional one crore LPG connection under the PMUY scheme was announced.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
        • These one crore additional PMUY connections (under Ujjwala 2.0) aim to provide <\/span><\/span><\/span>deposit-free LPG connections <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>to those<\/span><\/span><\/span> low-income families <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>who<\/span><\/span><\/span> could not be covered under<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> the earlier phase of PMUY.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Other Benefits:\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          • Ujjwala 2.0 will provide the <\/span><\/span><\/span>first refill <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>and <\/span><\/span><\/span>hotplate free of cost to the beneficiaries.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
          • The enrollment procedure will require minimal paperwork.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
          • In Ujjwala 2.0, <\/span><\/span><\/span>migrants will not be required <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>to submit ration cards or address proof.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
          • \u00a0A self-declaration for both \u2018family declaration\u2019 and as a \u2018proof of address will suffice.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
          • Ujjwala 2.0 will help achieve the Prime Minister\u2019s vision of universal access to LPG.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

    About<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    • It will make it<\/span><\/span><\/span> easier for Indian tourists<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> who need to take permission from the government to visit such areas.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Inner Line Permit (ILP) system<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

      • An Inner Line Permit is a<\/span><\/span><\/span> travel document<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> that is required by<\/span><\/span><\/span> non-natives<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> to visit four <\/span><\/span><\/span>Northeastern states<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, namely, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur and Nagaland.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • Both the <\/span><\/span><\/span>duration of stay and the areas <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>allowed to be accessed for any non-native are determined by the ILP.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • The ILP is issued by the<\/span><\/span><\/span> concerned state government<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and can be availed both by applying online or in person.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • The Inner Line Permit is an extension of the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation Act 1873.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
        • The Britishers framed regulations restricting entry in certain designated areas.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
        • This was done to <\/span><\/span><\/span>protect the Crown\u2019s interest in certain states <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>by preventing \u201cBritish subjects\u201d (Indians) from trading within these regions. In 1950, the term \u2018British subjects\u2019 was replaced with \u2018Citizens of India\u2019.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
        • Today, all non-natives require a permit. This was done to protect the indigenous tribal communities of these states from exploitation.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

      • Internet governance was one of the most controversial issues during the first phase of the <\/span><\/span><\/span>World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS-I)<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>, held in Geneva in December 2003.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
      • It was recognised that understanding Internet governance was\u00a0 essential in achieving the development <\/span><\/span><\/span>goals of the<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Geneva Plan of Action<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
