National Handloom Day<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/td>\n

  • The Union Government had declared the 7th of August as the <\/span><\/span><\/span>National Handloom Day in July 2015<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n
      \n
    • August 7 was chosen as the National Handloom Day to commemorate the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Swadeshi Movement <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>which was launched on this day in <\/span><\/span><\/span>1905<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> in <\/span><\/span><\/span>Calcutta Town Hall<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> to <\/span><\/span><\/span>protest against the partition of Bengal<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> by the British Government.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n
        \n
      • It aims to <\/span><\/span><\/span>boycott foreign goods<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and<\/span><\/span><\/span> rely on Indian-made products.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
      • It is celebrated to honour the <\/span><\/span><\/span>handloom community<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and acknowledge their contribution to India\u2019s socio-economic development.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

        • As over <\/span><\/span><\/span>70% of handloom <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>weavers and allied workers are women, it acts as a key to women’s empowerment.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
        • Aim\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

          • The day is dedicated to <\/span><\/span><\/span>raising awareness <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>among the <\/span><\/span><\/span>public<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and increasing the contribution towards the <\/span><\/span><\/span>socio-economic development <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>of the weavers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

            Importance of Handlooms Sector in India<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

            • Handlooms in India have a rich <\/span><\/span><\/span>cultural heritage<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and are renowned the world over for their<\/span><\/span><\/span> craftsmanship since ancient times.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
            • The handloom sector is a<\/span><\/span><\/span> symbol of our country\u2019s rich<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and <\/span><\/span><\/span>varied cultural<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>heritage,<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and is an important source of livelihood in rural and semi-rural parts of our country.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
            • It is also a sector that directly addresses women\u2019s empowerment with over<\/span><\/span><\/span> 70% of all weavers and allied workers being female.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
            • It has <\/span><\/span><\/span>eco-friendly production processes<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> with minimal requirement of capital and power.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

    • It refers to the process of offering shares of a <\/span><\/span><\/span>private corporation<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> to the public in a<\/span><\/span><\/span> new stock issuance.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • It is also known as floating or going public.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

        • The <\/span><\/span><\/span>black-breasted quail found<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> in the wild and the<\/span><\/span><\/span> brown-coloured Japanese quail<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> which is bred for meat.
