Fast Track Special Court (FTSCs)<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n

  • The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister has approved the continuation of 1023 Fast <\/span><\/span><\/span>Track Special Court (FTSCs<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>) including 389 exclusive<\/span><\/span><\/span> POCSO Courts<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> as a <\/span><\/span><\/span>Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>from 01.04.2021 to 31.03.2023.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • FTSCs are<\/span><\/span><\/span> set up for one year <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>initially (subject to approval). Therefore, the Scheme does not intend to create any permanent infrastructure.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • Each FTSC<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> will have <\/span><\/span><\/span>one Judicial<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span>Officer and seven staff <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>members.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • The responsibility of setting up of <\/span><\/span><\/span>FTSCs lies with the State & UT governments<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    • FTSCs<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> are dedicated courts expected to <\/span><\/span><\/span>ensure swift dispensation of justice<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • They have a <\/span><\/span><\/span>better clearance rate<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> as compared to the regular courts and hold speedy trials.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • They strengthen the deterrence framework for <\/span><\/span><\/span>sexual offenders<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • It is supporting the efforts of State\/UT Governments for providing <\/span><\/span><\/span>time-bound justice<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> to hapless victims of sexual offences in the country including the remote and far-flung areas.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n

  • India’s first indigenous aircraft carrier <\/span><\/span><\/span>(IAC) ‘Vikrant<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>‘ set sail for its maiden sea trials.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
  • INS Vikrant was named after the <\/span><\/span><\/span>warship <\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>that played a <\/span><\/span><\/span>crucial role in the 1971 wa<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>r.<\/span><\/span><\/span>\n

Highest Motorable Road in the World: Umlingla Pass<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h3>\n<\/td>\n

  • Recently, the BRO has constructed the highest motorable road in the world in Eastern Ladakh.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    About<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

    • The BRO has constructed and <\/span><\/span><\/span>black-topped the highest motorable road<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> in the world at 19,300 ft at <\/span><\/span><\/span>Umlingla Pass in Eastern Ladakh<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • The road now connects the important towns in the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Chumar sector of Eastern Ladakh<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
    • It has been achieved by the BRO as part of <\/span><\/span><\/span>\u201cProject Himank\u201d.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        • It is located at an altitude of 19,300ft in the union territory of Ladakh.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
        • It is stretching to a distance of almost 86km which connects <\/span><\/span><\/span>Chisumle and Demchok villages<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

          Project Himank<\/u><\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

          • Project of the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Border Roads Organisation (BRO)<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> in the Ladakh region of <\/span><\/span><\/span>northernmost India<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> that started in August 1985.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
          • Under this project, the BRO is responsible for the <\/span><\/span><\/span>construction and maintenance of roads<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span> and related infrastructure in Ladakh along the <\/span><\/span><\/span>Line of Actual Control (LAC)<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
          • It ensures access to sensitive military areas including the <\/span><\/span><\/span>world’s highest battleground at the Siachen Glacier and Pangong Tso Lake.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n
