This article aims to study in detail the mechanisms, objectives, and impacts of REDD and REDD Plus in fostering environmental sustainability and supporting local communities.<\/em><\/p><div enhance carbon stocks in forests while contributing to national sustainable development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-0c55c00900e781bdc1ce525095bf4f49\" style=\"color:#015aa7\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Objectives_of_REDD\"><\/span><strong>Objectives of REDD<\/strong><span class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>REDD is a framework through which developing countries are rewarded financially for any emissions reductions achieved associated with a decrease in the conversion of forests to alternate land use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>By identifying current or projected rates of deforestation and forest degradation, countries taking remedial action to reduce those rates effectively will be financially rewarded based on the extent of their achieved emissions reductions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>REDD provides a unique opportunity to reduce large-scale emissions at comparatively low abatement costs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Valuing the economic role forest ecosystems play in carbon capture and storage allows intact forests to compete with historically more lucrative, alternate land uses, which results in their destruction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The UN-REDD Programme supports nationally led REDD+ processes and promotes the informed and meaningful involvement of all stakeholders, including Indigenous peoples and other forest-dependent communities, in implementing REDD+ activities agreed under the UNFCCC.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color (COP-13) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This plan stated that a comprehensive approach to mitigating climate change should include \u201cpolicy approaches and positive incentives\u201d related to reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation in developing countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color has-link-color wp-elements-dccd1f497c7f4ad8c870c8fbff7752fd\" style=\"color:#ff6a00\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" (REDD+) is a mechanism developed by Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It creates a financial value for the carbon stored in forests by offering incentives for developing countries to reduce emissions from forested lands and invest in low-carbon paths to sustainable development.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Developing countries would receive results-based payments for results-based actions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>REDD+ goes beyond simply deforestation and forest degradation and includes the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests, and enhancement of forest carbon stocks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>REDD+ incorporates important benefits of livelihood improvement, biodiversity conservation, and food security
